RV Party Lights Brighten the Mood

By L. Michael Clark

When my wife and I first bought our recreational vehicle, I concentrated on the practical aspects of owning a vehicle such as this. I spent my time learning how to properly level the vehicle and set it up so it was properly hooked up to the necessary utilities. After a few camping trips utilizing this vehicle, I quickly learned that these were not the most important aspects of camping at all. Instead, it was the way you chose to decorate the area around your vehicle that proved to be the most important. While tables and chairs, tablecloths and napkins, and drinking cups were important. I quickly learned that one of the most important features of your campground decorations were the RV party lights that adorned your awning and other areas.

It never ceases to amaze me when we go camping that we are sure to see some theme that we have not only never before seen but would have never imagined existed had I not seen it myself. For my personal use, I pretty much stick with a sports theme that highlights my favorite football and baseball teams depending on the time of year it is when we are traveling. While this is a popular choice in string lighting, it is far from the only or most unique choice. One of my favorite light strings that really sticks out in my mind were the flip flop lights we saw while camping near the beach in the Florida panhandle area.

Keeping with the beach motif in RV party lights, I have seen lights designed to look like Hawaiian shirts, surf boards, tropical fruits such as coconuts and pineapples, and of course, the ever popular pink flamingo. One of the neatest items I have seen around a campground was not a set of lights but an inflatable palm tree cooler. I think that is a really unique design for an item that usually just serves a practical need as opposed to being decorative. People can really design some unique set ups.

Of course, the variety of items available to you when it comes to RV party lights is almost as extensive as your imagination. While some people stick to a more simple approach and just hang a few strands of Christmas lights, others take decorating their camp site way more serious. From lighthouses to fish, or lanterns to a more patriotic motif such as stars and flags, part of the fun of going camping for me now revolves around the many different styles and types of light strings that we will encounter as we make our way across this great land.

So, if you decide to toss out the bucks for that freedom machine otherwise known as a recreational vehicle, when the sales rep finishes showing you all the necessary things you need to do to properly operate you new vehicle, ask him if they have the most important accessories you will need on your travels. A favorite travel mug, a good pair of sunglasses and a string or two of really unique RV party lights.
